Systems Technology

“Technology plays a major and essential part of our lives. We use it in different areas of society for energy production, manufacturing, chemical processing, transportation, hospitality, agriculture, communications, medical services, sport, leisure industries and many more. Most of these interact and depend upon each other to function effectively. When they do this we call them systems.” ( ONeill,Prosper and Baulch 2002)
At Stawell Secondary College we recognise the importance of students developing an understanding of Systems and Technology in this ever changing world.

Students utilise the excellent facilities in our recently refurbished Technology Wing to work through the four major stages of technological development.

Investigation

Technology classrooms have their own computers for

  investigation and design

Design

Students start the Design process with rough sketches

Investigation and Design

Students model designs to test predictions

Production

Production may include the manufacture of specialised
  Components

Evaluation

The evaluation process assesses the finished product against the criteria of the original design brief

Skills

An important part of the Systems and Technology subject is the development of
· Thinking
· Reflecting
· Team work skills
