The
Science Department offers a diverse and exciting curriculum
form years 7 to 12. It is progressive actively involved
with a number of state and national initiates aimed at developing
science in the school curriculum.

The
science KLA is a winner of a "highly commended" award in
the 2003 National Awards for Quality Schooling - Mathematics,
Science and Technology.
Stawell
Secondary College is also a Phase 2 Science in Schools Research
Project School 2001-2003 (SISRP) working with Deakin
University.
The
science department is also a research site for Victorian
Schools Innovation Commission "Beyond To Pilot" Research
Project:- investigating what sustains innovation schools
Overview
Junior
School
Year
7- core subject,4 periods/week all year
Year
8- core subject, 3 periods/week all year
Year
9- elective units, 4 periods/week, semester length unit
Year
10- elective units, 5 periods/week, semester length unit
Students
are required to study at least one unit of Science in both
Year 9 and 10.
There
are 3 units at year 9 to select from:
- Animal,
Mineral and Vegetable Science
- Communication
Science.
- Ecology.
( Past Pleasant and Future)
There
are 3 units at year 10 to select from:
- Physics/Chemistry
Science.
- Life
Science.
- Grape
and Wine Production
A
student may select Ecology at either year 9 or 10 but not
both.
Senior
School
VCE
units are 5 periods per week.
Years
11 and 12 Victorian Certificate of Education Units offered.
