Mathematics

The school delivers
a comprehensive mathematics curriculum which caters for
students with a broad range of abilities at all levels,
and encourages all students to reach their full potential.
The programs offered
incorporate a variety of approaches at years 7 to 10 in
particular.
These include
- formal skills practice
- problem solving activities, which maybe hands on, written
or computer based
- mathematical investigations, many of which are practically
based
- the use of technology including both computers and graphic
calculators
The
school is currently enhancing its program with a variety
of open ended lessons, many of which are from MATHS
300.
These incorporate
innovative thinking and can be tackled at a number of levels,
giving opportunities to extend the more able students while
allowing access to all students.

- standard mathematics
- advanced mathematics
At
Year 11
- Foundation mathematics 1&2
- General mathematics (standard) 1&2
- General mathematics (Advanced) 1&2
- Mathematical methods 1&2, at year 11
At Year 12
- Further mathematics 3&4
- Mathematical methods 3&4
- Specialist mathematics 3&4
The school also
encourages students at all year levels to enter the Australian
Mathematics Competition.
