The school delivers a comprehensive mathematics curriculum which caters for students with a broad range of abilities at all levels, and encourages all students to reach their full potential.

The programs offered incorporate a variety of approaches at years 7 to 10 in particular.

These include

  • formal skills practice
  • problem solving activities, which maybe hands on, written or computer based
  • mathematical investigations, many of which are practically based
  • the use of technology including both computers and graphic calculators

The school is currently enhancing its program with a variety of open ended lessons, many of which are from MATHS 300.

These incorporate innovative thinking and can be tackled at a number of levels, giving opportunities to extend the more able students while allowing access to all students.

Senior Mathematics

The school provides a range of courses which are listed below.

At Year 10

  • modified mathematics
  • standard mathematics
  • advanced mathematics

At Year 11

  • Foundation mathematics 1&2
  • General mathematics (standard) 1&2
  • General mathematics (Advanced) 1&2
  • Mathematical methods 1&2, at year 11

At Year 12

  • Further mathematics 3&4
  • Mathematical methods 3&4
  • Specialist mathematics 3&4

The school also encourages students at all year levels to enter the Australian Mathematics Competition.
