Stawell
Secondary College offers a comprehensive range of visual
and performing art subjects, catering for a large number
of students.
We offer
- The Visual Arts
- Drama
- Music

In 2003, we successfully
staged a rock musical “The Outsiders”, involving
over 100 students from all year levels. All areas of the
arts were involved, along with the Textile and Hospitality
and Catering departments. We hope to stage a similar production
every 2 years.
In 2004 the school
offers the following Visual Art subjects in semester units.
- Visual Art -one semester year 7 and year 8 as an elective
- Graphic Communication and Design - year 8 to10 as an
elective
- Media/ Photography – year 10 as an elective
- Ceramics – year 8 to year 10 as an elective
- VCE Art Units 1 & 2
- VCE Graphic Communication and Design – Units 1&2
and 3&4
- VCE Studio Art Units 1,2,3 & 4.
Our facilities
in the Visual Arts include one main art room for yrs 7 to
VCE, one Media/Art share room with a dark room facility,
yr 7 to 10, one Graphic Communication and Design room and
one Ceramic room.
In the Performing
Arts we have a Drama room and a Music room.
Music
The music Department
runs two areas of learning, Practical Class Music and Instrumental
Programs.
The Instrumental program teaches Woodwind, Brass, Percussion
and Singing and includes two Concert bands, a Stage band,
a Choir and a Celtic Folk band.
Practical Class
Music incorporates VCE Solo performance and VET music Industry
Skill courses.
