Chaplaincy
The College Chaplain is available to provide pastoral care and support to students, families and staff. She provides help in a caring and sensitive manner, dealing with specific problems or general issues.
Students today experience much pressure as they struggle to develop their identity and self-esteem. At the same time they have to cope with studies, social interaction, career paths and, in some cases issues of family breakdown, alcohol and other drug abuse. None of these problems are easily solved. The Chaplain is available to assist students as they endeavour to find ways of managing these issues.
The Chaplain is also involved in the classroom to support teachers in classes that look at significant life issues. While respecting the right of students to make and hold their own beliefs, the Chaplain encourages students to face fundamental questions concerning the meaning and purpose of life and to help them discover life-affirming answers.
The Chaplain receives support from the wider community and local churches through the work of the Chaplaincy Committee.
